ALFA - the association of literature friends was founded by Barbara Fellgiebel, a long time Algarve resident of German origin, Swedish nationality, with English husband, living and working in Portugal. A convinced European. For the last 25 years she has been living in the cultural diaspora of this nature wise blessed part of the world and tried her best to change the former part, i.e. in 1988 she co-founded Entdecken Sie Algarve, the leading German language publication, during the English-German bilingual time of Essential Algarve she was responsible for the German part. |

Her latest project is ALFA.
Alfa is NOT a book club, reading circle, etc. but a monthly get-together with a presentation of one or two authors/authoresses who talk about their books, read from them and are part of that spell-binding process, when an author fascinates his/her audience to the degree, that people get curious and want to read (and buy) a book, they had not even heard of, let alone considered to notice.
One of the long term goals of ALFA is to create an annually lit.algarve - an international literature festival
that puts the ALGARVE on the map of international literature and brings authors from all over the world to the Algarve to turn curious spectators into a spellbound, fascinated audience.
